December 4, 2007

The Sherman Town Board met in regular session Tuesday, December 4, 2007, 7:30 p.m. at the Sherman Town Hall with President Robin Berg presiding. 

Members present:  Robin Berg, Sandee Sutton, Cheryl Swenson and Ann Thiel.

Member absent:  Gerry Karpen.

ROUTINE BUSINESS   

The Agenda was approved.

Minutes of the November 6, 2007, meeting were approved with the following correction:  It was incorrectly reported that Brian Berg was paid $50.00 for mowing.

The treasurer’s report was read and approved.

CLAIMS APPROVED TO BE PAID

Minnehaha Community Water Corp., water, $22.50; Argus Leader Media, November meeting minutes, Notice of hearing, $39.03; Xcel Energy, electricity, $225.96; USPS, stamps, $8.20; Brian Berg, 1 times mowing, $25.00; Eugene Beckman, oil & hydraulic fluid, $57.58; South Dakota Municipal League, annual dues, $51.31.  The following six-month salaries were paid:  Robin Berg, $145.00; Gerry Karpen, $105.00; Sandee Sutton, $135.00; Cheryl Swenson, $150.00; Ann Thiel, $240.00.

OLD BUSINESS

1.       Snow removal.  Some alleys need to be plowed for safety reasons.

2.       The Sherman Christmas Party will be December 15, 1 p.m at the Town Hall.

3.       Berg will contact Bill Benson regarding maintenance on street signs that have fallen down.   

NEW BUSINESS

      4.   Sutton proposed an increase in salaries for trustees from $15 to $25 per meeting, an increase from $20 to $50 per year additional for the board president, and an increase from $300 to $350 per year for the treasurer.  Thiel will prepare a report of salaries for municipalities similar to Sherman .     

5.       The two CDs at First Bank and Trust in Garretson will rollover after the 1st of January. 

SPECIAL HEARING

Motion by Sutton, second by Berg, to approve the 2008 Alcoholic Beverage License for The Bullet.  Passed unanimously.

Motion by Sutton to adjourn, second by Berg.

The next regular meeting will be January 8, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.
