October 9, 2007

The Sherman Town Board met in regular session Tuesday, October 9, 2007, 7:30 p.m. at the Sherman Town Hall with President Robin Berg presiding. 

      Members present:  Robin Berg, Gerry Karpen, Sandee Sutton, Cheryl Swenson and Ann Thiel.

      Others present:  Neil Winterton, Terry Tronson.

ROUTINE BUSINESS   

The Agenda was approved.

Minutes of the September 11, 2007, meeting were approved as read.

Minutes of the September 18, 2007, special session were approved as read.

The treasurer’s report was read and approved.

CLAIMS APPROVED TO BE PAID

Minnehaha Community Water Corp., water, $22.50; Argus Leader Media, September meeting minutes, special session minutes, notice of adoption, and notice of meeting change, $113.16; Xcel Energy, electricity, $219.00; Virgil Inglett, 4 times mowing and grass seed, $155.00; Brian Berg, 2 times mowing, $50.00; Neil Winterton, 3 times mowing, $60.00; Robin Berg, ink and mileage, $76.46; Sandee Sutton, board for merry-go-round, $27.01; Ben Nustad, hang shelves and rain gutter, $62.20; Menards, shelving, $47.84; Lyle Signs, street signs, $276.28. 

OLD BUSINESS

1.       Street work tabled to next meeting.

2.       Discussion continued regarding the possible dissolution of the Fire Department.  Decision tabled.

3.       Terry Tronson summarized current developments regarding creation of a Rural Ambulance District.  Motion by Karpen, second by Sutton, to approve Resolution 2007-1:  Resolution of Approval to be Included in Minnehaha County Rural Ambulance District.   Motion carried.

4.       Sutton reported that the Minnehaha County Sheriff charges $24.00 per hour for scheduled patrol.  Discussion ensued.  Since the Sheriff currently makes frequent, unscheduled patrols through Sherman , a contract for scheduled patrol was not deemed necessary. 

5.       Thiel reported that vehicle liability is covered by SDPAA.  The vehicles are not covered for comprehensive or collision damage. 

NEW BUSINESS

      6.   Karpen contacted the Post Office in Garretson regarding problems with mail delivery.  The Post Master indicated that delivery will be closely monitored. 

ORDINANCES

7.       Second reading of Ordinance 2007-2:  2008 Appropriation Ordinance.  Motion by Karpen to approve, second by Sutton.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Sutton to adjourn, second by Karpen.

The next regular meeting will be November 6, 2007, at 7:30 p.m.
