January 9, 2007 Special Session

The Sherman Town Board met in special session Tuesday, January 9, 2007, 6:00 p.m. at the Sherman Town Hall for consideration of revising Sherman’s ordinances.  

      Members present:  Robin Berg, Sandee Sutton, Gerry Karpen and Ann Thiel.

      The meeting was called to order by President Robin Berg.

      Berg reported that some residents felt Sherman didn’t need any more ordinances.  Karpen stated that there were a number of issues that needed to be addressed.

      Sutton listed the following nuisance problems:  garbage disposal and burning, impounding and disposal of abandoned vehicles and junk left on private property, dilapidated buildings, access to alleys, weed control, vicious pets, and camping.

      Motion by Karpen, second by Sutton, to begin investigation of a nuisance ordinance for Sherman using the City of Hurley’s ordinances as a template.  This will be discussed at the next regular meeting on February 13, 2007. 

      Motion by Sutton to adjourn, second by Karpen.
